1. The flexibility of a laboratory needs to be considered first: each laboratory can have enough space to place laboratory furniture and equipment. Separate spaces can also be arranged independently for their respective uses, and the module configuration should be changed without affecting the use of related laboratories.
2. Consider the economics of planning according to the needs: the laboratory must consider the convenience of personnel operation and effectively divide the area for personnel work and configuration, thereby avoiding waste of space.
3. Reasonable arrangement and expansibility: The laboratory should be built on the basis of modules that can add structure and reusable space, and can perform necessary contraction and expansion without affecting the relevant experiments.
4. Laboratory safety: The area configuration in the laboratory needs to be divided according to its potential degree of danger. The smoke shield and storage locations for acidic and flammable substances and the space allocated for the biosafety bin will be located in the higher-risk area, which is at the rear of the laboratory (away from the exit). A certain amount of space and adequate waste passages will be used to form a second layer of protection for higher hazard zones. The low-risk areas of each laboratory will be used to arrange various dry countertop activities such as writing desks, computers and instruments. Moist countertop activities are placed in the medium-risk area.
