Laboratory equipment backup issues

Laboratory equipment backup issues:
(1) No backup power is provided. For example, the third-level biosafety laboratory requires two independent power supplies, or a backup generator set is used, while the fourth-level biosafety laboratory requires a third backup power source. If conditions are not met, an uninterruptible power supply is required, and the power supply capacity of the uninterruptible power supply is required to be not less than 45 minutes. Some third-level biosafety laboratories only use ordinary municipal power supply without any backup measures, which obviously does not meet the requirements.
(2) Spare problems of exhaust fans. In order to ensure that the laboratory maintains negative pressure under any circumstances, the exhaust system of the third- and fourth-level biosafety laboratories requires that a backup exhaust fan be provided, but many projects do not. What’s more, the exhaust system does not have a backup fan, but the supply air is provided with a backup fan.
System adjustment and control functions:
Adjustment and control functions of the system. In order to strictly ensure the pressure difference and pressure gradient in each area of the laboratory, the necessary air volume adjustment devices should be installed on the supply and exhaust systems, and cannot be replaced by ordinary control valves. The exhaust air of some engineering biosafety cabinets and rooms has not undergone rigorous design calculations. When the system is commissioned, it cannot meet the pressure gradient required by the design, or the pressure gradient is unstable.
The lack of a complete automatic control system and the lack of ability to respond to emergencies are also a major problem in currently completed laboratories. Although the pressure gradient in each area can be adjusted to meet the requirements at the time of completion and acceptance, in the actual operation process, due to the changes in the resistance of the high-efficiency filter and the lack of professional operation management personnel, the laboratory without the automatic control system cannot ensure the pressure gradient. Therefore, the self-control system of the biosafety laboratory must be valued.
